The church of Christ that meets in Abingdon, Virginia is a body of believers striving to follow God more perfectly. Our guiding light and rule of faith is the Bible, the Holy Word of God, and no other document or by-law. There is no headquartered organization that oversees our activites. The local congregation is independent. We have elders whose responsibility it is to shepherd the congregation I Timothy 3.1-7 and deacons assigned to specific work within the body to which they attend. Every member of the body is a minister to both the saved and the lost both wihin and without. We are blessed with a wonderful full-time preacher and minister, Bill Haywood, who has served with us for over ten years and has been essential in our growth in the community.
